"SOMEDAY"

Dubbed the SOMEDAY quilt due to my procrastination.  My granddaughter has been wanting a memory quilt from the great grands' baby clothes and it's taken me a good while to get to it.  SOMEDAY has finally arrived.

I've already made one for each of the kids, but Mommy needed one too. You can see the first one  here    .  ...  the second one  here    .

Once I talked myself into just starting even though I did not have a definite plan, it moved along super quickly.  Larger pieces were made into 9", 9 x13.5" and 9 x 18" blocks.  Smaller pieces became 4.5 x 9" blocks or raw edge applique.

The 9" border gave me lots of room to play in for the applique.

These little pockets picked off a pair of tiny jeans are my favourite part of this quilt and they are what got me started on the project.  I just couldn't resist the cuteness!!

No hand quilting on this one, but lots of random freemotion .... I like to call it organic because ...well because it's not perfect but it's cute and gets the job done easily.  I love freemotion quilting because it avoids so much quilt wrangling!

This time I even did the binding totally by machine and it worked well.  I had been a loyal hand stitcher for the final side of binding .... those days are done according to my wrists and hands. 😒

Even the name tag and my little blog tag are done with free motion.  I do have embroidery on my machine but I'm not a fan. Free motion is definitely my friend.

Pinky Town

Finally a finish on my second Bitty House quilt.   The first was finished  3 years ago and the extra blocks were lingering around waiting for inspiration.

Once I saw this cute hollow Star pattern, an idea for a layout occurred.

As usual, I started hand quilting Pinky Town before my hands told me to give it up and do some free motion quilting.  So happy with the results.

This cross stitch is from a Bonnie and Camille quilt book. I fell in love with her finish in a simple white frame and had to do one.

Many good memories in these stitches, especially of our sibling trip to BC last summer.

So nice to have some new, bright finishes in the hallway just in time for Spring!
