B O M BLOCKS

Finally I've joined a Block of The Month !!

The Sugar Block Club from StitcheryDickoryDock has been awesome so far:

March's block

Feb Block

January's block

April's Block is just out, check it out!

STRING THING

I planned on making a lap quilt from mainly strings of black, grey and white with one strip of colour in the centre of each block, but I got bored with it quickly.

Also I had some orphan paper pieced star blocks looking for a purpose so I put them all together.

Some fmq pebbles in the coloured strings, hand quilting in the other strips...

more hand quilting and fmq in the star.

It finished up at 32 x 32 and hangs outside of the sewing room.

Pink Stash-Buster

Inspired by Lori Holt's "Farm Girl Vintage" Book , I used 2 Butter Churn Blocks and 10 Churn Dash 6 inch blocks.

Added some 2 inch sashing and some light pink cornerstones. ... some stitching in the ditch, outlining  and some fmq flowers.

A flannel backing for extra softness.

Our cozy corner in the office is ready for Livia's next visit!

Finishing at 32.5 x 40.5

36 Patch

It started with one of these :

they became a bit addictive, so then a few more :

a few pinwheels :

and voila:

Not quite done though, decided to add one more row so it'll be large enough for our bed.  I ran out of black for the star points ... hope to pick some up later today. Other than that this is from scraps and stash :)  Now that I'm only working part-time I have more time but less money... so I can hear all those scraps yelling out to be used!!

EASY, FAST FINISH :))

DISAPPEARING 9-PATCH

After finishing 3 quilts on a deadline for gifts I was looking for some easy sewing and decided to try the disappearing 9-patch.  It definitely was as fast and easy as I had read online.  So I went to my stash and got started.

For the quilting I did stitch in the ditch in the centre and a large stipple in the outer border.  Inside the large squares I hand quilted a tiny  X.

This is the first time I used Minky for the backing ... I didn't give me any trouble :)  I did keep the quilting minimal because of the Minky, I wasn't sure how soft it would be after a lot of dense quilting.

Not sure yet who this one's for, so I sewed empty name tags into two corners of the back to be filled out later.

Checking out the wamth factor !!

Another quilt for one of our employees, this one is for Tetyana.

Even though she retired a few months ago, Tetyana has come in a few times since, to help us out in a pinch.

The Final Quilt Ready for our Last Day of Business at the Cafe

A TOKEN OF

APPRECIATION

The final of the 3 quilts made in appreciation for our awesome staff is ready!

This one is for Elena (right), I think she will like the colours and the simple elegance of the design. I have used this pattern before in a quilt for my sister.

The pattern is from Gerri Robinson, found in the Jan/Feb issue of Mc/Calls Quilting.

No name again, just a reminder of the cafe (and of me :) )

I did the free motion quilting ... swirly loops ... on my trusty Janome.
