BRITT'S T-SHIRT QUILT
After much procrastination .... My first attempt at a t-shirt quilt, finally done !!
I was worried about ruining Britt's WE DAY shirts, worried about colours matching, had trouble finding the border material....
I backed it with grey minky , with that and the stabilizer it made for a very warm and heavy quilt. The backing was Britt's favourite part of the quilt and she hinted at all future quilts having a minky backing :)
It was a bit of a beast to quilt with all that weight, so I kept it simple with organic lines, using invisible thread on the top and grey on the back.
I had 3 little orphan blocks that were trying to make their way onto the quilt, but only one made the cut.
Brittnei: Here's hoping this quilt will keep reminding you of all the good memories and great freinds from your time spent with the WE DAY TEAM , and also provide warmth and coziness as you build a future with Nick. Last but not least, may it always remind you how much your grandma loves you.

TUMMY-TIME
-
A cute little quilt perfect for tummy time. I picked up a charm pack of "Dot-Dot-Dash" over a year ago and finally used it, pairing it up with some white I had on hand. These are taken before washing .... so pretend the blue marks aren't there :)
Then on to practicing my free motion skills.
The binding is from my stash. It's a bit brighter than the rest of the quilt, but it works.
The pinwheels were not in my plan, but I ran out of white and had to improvise.
An all-pinwheel baby quilt is on my to-do list mainly so I can do fmq in the background and let the pinwheels pop.

All washed and crinkly ... ready for gifting or donating, not yet sure.

STARSTRUCK TOP: DONE
AND
HUSH LITTLE BABY: FINISHED
My goal here was to use up as many triangle scraps leftover from bindings as possible. ... and of course to end up with a cute baby quilt. I think this one could be for either a boy or girl.
The blocks are 6" and the quilt top is 36 x 48.
I have a piece of batting just the right size in with my leftovers :)
Not loving the orange for a binding. I'm leaning towards a dark grey or black ???
A few of my favourites :
The red in the star is from a quilt made for a past employee ...great memories of working together
This one is from a wall hanging made for my sister. Polka dots always make me smile and so does my sister!
Not sure where this is from but I wish I had more of the white with little black stars!
I finished this one a few months ago, I did blog about the finished top, but not the finished quilt.
I machine quilted it, but kept it simple.
It now has a name "Hush Little Baby", but no home yet.

STASHBOX STARS
(REVERSABLE)
The front ( which you can read more about here http://karenbbsnow.blogspot.ca/2016/02/36-patch-it-started-with-one-of-these.html )
The back:
I stitched in the ditch around the main blocks, but all the other quilting is done by hand. It took 5 months, all worth it :)
Finishing up at 78 x 78 before washing

Baby Quilt Top finish
and
SugarBlockClub2016 July Block
I had 2 of these blocks on the design wall for months ... poor little orphans. So I decided to not be too picky with colors matching perfectly and dug into the stash/scrap yet again.
It turned out looking pretty cute. Now I have two quilt tops ready for finishing and then on to the donation pile.
Finishing up at 34" x 42"
One of the churn dash centres is made from leftover "banana" fabric :) I don't think the quilt's future little owner will mind the "scrappiness"
Also finished another BOM block for the Sugarblock Club
I've been leaving an extra 1/4 inch around the outside of the paper pieced blocks until all the blocks are done

"ALL SHOOK UP"
... a finished baby quilt top
38.5 x 45.5"
I started out making turquoise log cabin blocks from my stash and scraps, but began to run low.... Orange stash to the rescue. They go well together and could be for either a baby girl or boy.
Planning on an orange border and a light grey minky backing, but for now it will be put on the back burner. I need to stop procrastinating and get working on a requested T-shirt quilt. I have never made one, and am a bit nervous about it !

Another Plus Quilt
This still is my favourite pattern to use up my stash/scrap .... fast and easy . So when I'm not sure which project to do next, I can do one of these while I think about it.
Organic straight lines for the quilting. I checked out Lorna's blog, sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com for tips .
Always good to have a baby quilt on hand for a gift!

Two Finishes :))
As usual lately, both are made from what I had on hand ... no shopping other than thread and a brown minky backing for one.
The main blocks are Haystack blocks (6") from Lori Holt's "Farm Girl Vintage Book". Quilting is a mix of straight lines with my walking foot and some free motion star shapes.
Most of the fabric in this baby quilt
is from leftovers after this quilt made bout 3 years ago:
The pieced backing. 34 x46
