KALEIDOSCOPE is a pattern from LELLA BOUTIQUE by Vanessa Goertzen that I bought well before Covid, so I'm guessing 2017. I believe the shop was in Kitchener and they were part of the July Shop Hop. Of course they had a beautiful sample on display and I just had to have it. lol..
Seven years later I finally got around to it.
This pattern was a treat to piece, nice and easy, especially with a jelly roll. So the piecing went quickly, unlike the quilting which took a leisurely 9 months.
Big stitch quilting , Baptist Fan design. It's fairly dense, the lines only spaced half an inch apart. It was a pleasure to work on and so worth it. Now that it's washed it has an amazing cozy feel to it.
Binding machine sewn to the front and hand stitched to the back.
Washed and wrinkly here 😍
70 x 70

That is a beautiful quilt - I can see why you wanted to make it! Your quilting looks wonderful, too. Congratulations on the finish!
ReplyDeleteThanks, the quilting was very relaxing.
DeleteLovely, and hand quilted too. Didn't you do well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenny. I'm a bit lost now without a hand quilting project.
DeleteIt's beautiful. I have admired that pattern for a while. Your hand quilting is AWESOME! It looks so cozy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy. I love the two colour version on the pattern as well so I may have to make another one, lol.
DeleteSo, so pretty and well worth the wait! The hand quilting really adds to it. I love Vanessa's designs so will have to look that one up.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vivian. Happy quilting.
DeleteWhat a beautiful finish! Hand quilting takes time, but is is so pretty and gentle on the finished quilt when it is done. I think that the Baptist fan is one of my all time favorite quilting patterns.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Baptist Fan and Clamshell are my two favourites. Thanks for organizing the RSC ... it's always fun to get inspiration here.
DeleteI love it! I'm anxious to try hand-quilting again. What size thread did you use for the big stitching?
ReplyDeleteI used Gutterman's quilting thread but sometimes I use perle cotton #12 for a chunkier look.
