My second SPARE SQUARES quilt from Lori Holt's SCRAPPINESS IS HAPPINESS book.
I guess this is classified as "curated" scrappy since I stuck to pinks, reds, browns and soft neutral low volume backgrounds.
The stack of pink blocks sat on the shelf for about a year patiently waiting for the mood to strike.
This backing was bought for another project which didn't pan out, but I really like it with this quilt.
It wasn't quite wide enough, not a problem, needed to be used anyway.
Machine quilted in a wonky, wavy grid.
Wow, so fast and easy after the previous hand quilted one!
Binding machine sewn to the front and hand stitched to the back. Those last few stitches are always a bit sad, silly but true.

It's great! I also like to do scrappy quilts in just a couple of colors. I think they look so much better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon.
DeleteThis is a beautiful scrappy quilt. Love the colors you used. Putting the last stitch in the binding is always a celebration for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara.
DeleteThat is a beauty! It could work in any color combination, but I love the reds and pinks together. The backing is fun, too! Congratulations on your finish!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.
DeleteLove it! I have all the LV pieces cut for this quilt but haven't dug into the colors to get it done. I love the curated color look of yours! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue.
DeleteWhat caught my attention was the addition of thin neutral border. I love how this solves the problem of the binding "chopping" the outer squares.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gwyned.
DeleteLovely, I like stitching the binding down too. It's always a "there, all done" statement.
ReplyDeleteLove your color choice. The pop of brown works with the reds and pinks. The back is awesome !
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words.
DeleteThose blocks needed to simmer to be ready for completion! Very lovely and love the fabric that anchored the back. This will look nice out for Valentine's Day next month.
ReplyDeleteLol, always lots of simmering going on here,
DeleteYour curated scrap collection makes a beautiful quilt! The backing fabric is perfect and the extra pink stripe just adds interest. Congratulations on getting it done.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
DeleteWhat a stunning quilt and how neat that backing fabric fit perfectly!
