2021, Here We Go!
Being that this is going to be another stressful year dealing with all things Covid, my main quilting goal is to have fun, keep busy and avoid any extra stress.
So, for fun I started these mini 3 inch house blocks ...fun and addictive!
I've been wanting to join in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and this project will be part of that challenge. Check out the link below to see what everyone else is making with their colour for the month. January's colour is pink:
Theres always lots of inspiration ... thanks Angela for putting this together every Saturday!
The next 2 quilts were pieced by another member of our local quilt guild and finished by me.
I started out machine quilting in the lighter areas and ended up hand quilting in the dark areas.
The 2nd one is all machine quilted ...
in a wonky grid.
Wonderful hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your tiny houses, Karen.
Thank you Ivani. Not sure how I'm going to use all these tiny houses, waiting for that great idea to pop into my head :)
DeleteI love your tiny houses--so adorable--nice works you have in progress too
ReplyDeletehugs, Julierose
Thanks Julierose.
DeleteYour house blocks are SO adorable. Love the Delectable Mountains too. I have been thinking of a rainbow version for 2022. Lots of great progress this month.
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela, and thanks again for the RSC.
Deletereally fun house blocks - and quilting
ReplyDeleteThey are fun, curious to see what February's colour will be.
DeleteSuper cute little House blocks for the RSC!! Sigh... I haven't started making mine yet. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteI just checked out your latest blog post and it looks like you didn't have much extra time for tiny houses! lol
Deletecute houses!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat.
DeleteYour tiny houses are adorable! I'm tempted to make those, too. Your hand quilting on the guild quilt is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking out my post and responding. Hand quilting is my Covid therapy. lol
DeleteOh my, your tiny houses seem to have caught everyone’s eye! We should all be making them (because the world would be a better, less stressful place with more, LOL!) they are way too cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy for stopping by and commenting.
DeleteEveryone loves your tiny houses, and these pink ones are gorgeous. Imagine when you have a big neighbourhood full of colourful little houses.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny, I wish my neighbourhood was this colourful. Right now it's very white here and very pretty until it turns to slush.
DeleteCute little houses. They are additive! I finished a quilt of them last year I think it was.
ReplyDeleteI really like your combination of machine and hand quilting.
Thanks Cathy, hopefully by next year I'll have a finished quilt.
DeleteI have 191 of those houses!! (I did the math: you need 400 to make a 60”x60” quilt...)
ReplyDeletePatrice , I think I have about 80 so far. They may end up in a row quilt with other blocks that catch my fancy.
DeleteAdorable houses! I really like how you sprinkled the other colors in with the pink. I like your hand quilting, too. I love hand quilting, but in my hurry to get things done, I often choose machine. This is a wonderful way to add in just enough to enjoy it without committing months to a quilt project.
ReplyDeleteThanks JanineMarie. My sewing machine has a small throat so machine quilting is a challenge. I started hand quilting for that reason, and fell in love with the process. Maybe one day I'll splurge on a second machine with a larger throat.... a girl's gotta dream :)
DeleteYour stitching is beautiful on that quilt. Wow, three inch houses! They are so cute, nice mix of colors.
ReplyDeleteThankyou Linda.
DeleteLuv your little houses, I'm making some with doors& I cant tell you how many crooked doors has had to come unstiched little things can be nerve racking lol
ReplyDeleteHehe, I feel your pain. I was looking for easy and fast, so no doors.
DeleteI like how you hand quilted the mountains.
ReplyDeleteYour little house blocks are so cute! And the hand quilting on the mountains is the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteThank you Wendy, I appreciate the kind words.
DeleteWhat beautiful stitches you have for your hand-quilting. So evenly spaced and sized. Gorgeous! You also got off to a good RSC start with your pink houses!
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie. Now on to some yellow houses!
DeleteSo nice to have finishes under your belt! I like what you did with the hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rose Marie.
ReplyDeleteLove the tiny houses! Great quilts and love the hand quilting on the majestic mountains one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. I've got a good start on some yellow houses for February and also have another basted quilt in my hoop for hand quiltiing :)
